Water and Sanitation

The water services sector comprises water supply activities to urban and rural populations and associated activities, such as services, commerce and small industry inserted in the urban fabric. It also includes the drainage and treatment of urban waste water. The waste services sector comprises the activities of collection, treatment and final destination of urban waste. These services are considered to be of general interest, essential to the well-being of citizens, public health, economic activities and the protection of the environment.

Currently, the provision of this service is in the hands of the Municipalities and municipal entities, constituted for a more effective management of this activity.

Electric energy, being an essential good, is subject to public service obligations, which are the responsibility of all those involved in the electricity sector, among which consumer protection is highlighted, namely in terms of tariffs and prices.

Activity regulated by the SEN (National Electric System) that oversees any trader under the market regime. With the liberalization of the sector, any entity that sells electricity is subject to safety and quality standards and internal management tools that facilitate the operation of the business begin to prevail.

The distribution of natural gas is processed through the exploitation of the National Natural Gas Distribution Network, through the granting by the State of public service concessions, exercised exclusively and under the public service regime, as well as distribution licenses in autonomous local networks , not connected to the interconnected system of gas pipelines and networks, also carried out exclusively and under a public service regime.

The natural gas commercialization activity is free, being, however, subject to the attribution of a license by the competent administrative entity (ERSE).

Developed specifically to respond to the problem of maintaining geographically dispersed and decentralized networks (“field service”), it addresses all the operational and maintenance aspects specific to the sector. It allows the planning of work, management of maintenance/intervention orders, planning and allocation of logistical resources, specialized equipment and teams, by level of competence and adequacy to the nature of Maintenance.
